NOVICE MASTERS

New York City
Adult Learn to Row

No Experience Necessary!

New York Rowing offers a one day introductory level rowing class suitable for all adults. Participants are introduced to water safety, rowing terminology, how to handle the rowing equipment and the fundamentals of the rowing stroke. Emphasis is on learning in a fun and pressure free environment. This program only teaches the basic technique of rowing and the starting point for anyone interested in participating in the sport. Upon successful completion of a Learn to Row session participants will be encouraged to register for the Novice Masters Program. All participants must know how to swim.

New York City
Intermediate Adult Program

New York Rowing is thrilled to announce our fall rowing program for adult intermediate athletes.  We provide athletes the opportunity to learn and improve upon basic rowing skills through six weeks of technique-focused training.  This program is designed for athletes with an introductory level of experience in the sport.  This program will build on the basics of the sport taught in our “Learn To Row” and “Adult Novice” classes.  This session will center on developing the more detailed aspects of rowing technique and training will consist almost entirely of rowing in shells on the Harlem River. Workouts will also begin to focus on increasing physical fitness.

This session does require an introductory level of experience and is a great opportunity for those who wish to continue their progress in the sport through coached sessions. This course can be used as a step towards joining our competitive masters group or as an activity for those who are interested in simply finding a new recreational outlet.

What to Bring: Sunscreen, a refillable water bottle, a change of clothing, sneakers, socks, and flip flops are all necessary items to bring.
